CTOG-250 Comtech Traffic Optimization Gateway

Revision 1

Introduction

MN-CTOG250

1–3

The CTOG-250 provides seven IEEE 802.3ab 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) interfaces:

• (1X) for Management traffic

• (1X) for WAN traffic

• (2X) for LAN traffic

• (1X) (EXP-NET1) to pass traffic coming back from remote sites when in BPM (Bridge

Point-to-Multipoint) mode

• (1X) for Expansion traffic

(FUTURE)

• (1X) for IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) LAN operations

(FUTURE)

A 9-pin D-subminiature serial port is provided for remote product management purposes.

1.2

CTOG-250 Functional Description

Based on a carrier-grade platform with dual multi-core processors, the CTOG-250 provides packet

processing and traffic optimization for the high speed DVB-S2 outbound. It offloads the incoming

IP datagrams from the CDM-800 and packages them into DVB-S2 baseband frames for

transmission to the CDM-800 via its Gigabit Ethernet interface.

Sect. 1.4 CTOG-250 Specifications

Appendix A. REFERENCE DOCUMENTATION

The unit is managed through multiple interfaces providing options for both in-band and out-of-

band monitor and control:

Sect. 7.3 (ETHERNET-BASED PRODUCT MANAGEMENT) SNMP (MIB II and

Private MIB)

Sect. 7.4 (ETHERNET-BASED PRODUCT MANAGEMENT) Web Server (HTTP)

Interface

Chapter 8. SERIAL-BASED REMOTE PRODUCT MANAGEMENT

Field update of the operating system firmware is possible through file upload via satellite or the

Ethernet port.

Chapter 4. UPDATING FIRMWARE

Field activation of software-based options is possible through Comtech’s FAST (Fully Accessible

System Topology) Feature upgrade process.
