Transformer Electrical Connections
Figure 48 shows the electrical connections for the FT-X3 Communications Transformer. The
NETP and NETN signals represent connections to the FT 6000 Smart Transceiver NETP
and NETN pins (32 and 34). The NETB and NETA ports represent the connections to the
L
ON
W
ORKS
network, as shown in Figure 49.

Figure 48. FT-X3 Electrical Connections
In the figure, the diodes D1 and D2 are ESD transient clamping diodes. Capacitors C1 and
C2 are optional center-tap capacitors for the primary and secondary sides of the transformer.
You can tune the values for C1 and C2 based on required EMC performance. Capacitor C3
provides decoupling for the ESD clamp diodes. Capacitors C4 and C5 provide common-mode
noise immunity for compliance with EN61000-4-6 Level 3.
Note that the electrical connections for the FT-X3 Communications Transformer shown in
Figure 50 differ from the connections shown in the schematic for the FT 6000 Evaluation
Board that is included with the IzoT NodeBuilder Development Tool. The connections
described in this data book are the preferred connections for the FT-X3 Communications
Transformer.
Figure 51 shows the electrical connections for the FT network connector to the L

ORKS
network.
