Number of Regenerative Resistance Units (REU-1) to Be Connected
The regenerative energy produced in certain conditions such as when the actuator decelerates to a stop
or the vertically installed actuator moves downward is absorbed by the capacitor or resistor inside the
controller. If the produced regenerative energy is more than what can be handled internally, however, an
overvoltage error will occur and continuous operation becomes no longer possible.
In this case, you must take the following actions:
x Connect an external regenerative box or boxes. (ReferWR³5HIHUHQFHIRU1XPEHURI5HJHQHUDWLYH8QLWV
5(8WR%H&RQQHFWHG´EHORZ
x Increase the cycle time.
x Decrease the speed.
x Decrease the travel (when the actuator is installed vertically).
x Decrease the transferred mass.
x Do not perform synchronized operations (when multiple axes are connected).
If the actuator is installed horizontally, regenerative energy is produced when the actuator decelerates to a stop. If the actuator is
installed vertically, regenerative energy is produced primarily when the actuator moves downward. If two or more axes are
connected, therefore, you can reduce the regenerative energy by operating them in a manner preventing the aforementioned
operations to be performed at the same time.
Reference for Number of Regenerative Units (REU-1) to Be Connected
You need a regenerative resistance unit or units only when one or more actuators are used as vertical
axes (Z-axes).

*1 If the total wattage is 1,200 W or more, the number of regenerative resistance units to be connected
varies according to the use condition (operation duty). The higher the duty, the more regenerative
resistance units are required.
