CONFIG: D&I (Drop & Insert)
IMPORTANT
Drop and Insert operation is a FAST option. For a detailed discussion of
Drop & Insert, refer to Chapter 8. CLOCK MODES and DROP & INSERT
(D&I).
If D&I has not been selected, the menu displays as shown:
DRP-TYPE= N/A CHAN/TS LOOP=Y (Y/N)
INS-TYPE= N/A CHAN/TS
If the modem is configured for Drop & Insert, the menu displays as shown:
DRP-TYPE= T1-D4 CHAN/TS LOOP=Y (Y/N)
INS-TYPE= T1-D4 CHAN/TS
Using the [
←][→] arrow keys, beginning on the top line select the Drp-Type (Drop-Type); its
Chan/TS (Channel Timeslot); or the Loop.
From the bottom line, select the Ins-Type (Insert-Type); or its Chan/TS (Channel Timeslot). For
any of these selections, press [ENT] to continue on to that selection’s submenu branch, where the
parameters are then individually edited using the [
↑][↓] arrow keys.

Æ LOOP
Selecting Loop will tie Drop Data Out (DDO) to Insert Data Input (IDI) without the user having
to externally connect cables to these ports. Use the [
↑][↓] arrows keys to select Y(es) or N(o) for
the Loop feature.

Æ DRP-TYPE or INS-TYPE
The Drop-Types and Insert-Types are:
► T1- D4
► T1 – ESF
► E1 – CCS
► E1 – CAS
Use the [
↑][↓] arrows keys to select the desired Drop-Type and Insert-Type. To edit the Channel
Timeslots (CHAN/TS) for either Drop or Insert, press [ENT] to display the screens featured in
the next section.
