4. Unzip the files in the temporary folder on the PC. At least four files should be extracted (a
CDM-600L firmware download shown in this example):
• Release Notes FWCXXXX*_v###.pdf (or a variation of that filename): where “v###”
denotes the firmware version.
• Flash600_v27.exe: CEFD Flash Upload Utility Program.
• FwcXXX*.ccc: Firmware, where "x" denotes the firmware revision letter.
• CCCflash.hlp: Flash600 Help File.
5. Connect the external PC serial port to the CDM-600/600L modem P4B Remote Control interface
(located on the modem rear panel) using a crossover cable.
WARNING
If the modem is in any sort of redundancy system, the 25-pin P3B Data Interface
data connector must be disconnected before flash uploading.
The Remote Control port RS-232 lines used for Flash upgrading are also
connected to the 25-pin P3B Data Interface connector and are used when 1:N
Redundancy Switch is connected.
Please ensure that NOTHING is connected to P3B pins 4, 21 and 22 – if these
pins are used, the RS-232 remote control port will not function, and Flash
upgrading will be impossible.
6. Run the Flash600 Upload UtilityProgram by first locating the
executable file that was extracted from the archive file into the folder
created in Step 2, then double-clicking the icon to start the utility.
7. The user should follow the instructions
presented on the screen, and the upload will
take place automatically. Following the
successful upload process, the modem will
automatically reboot, running the new version
of firmware. During this process, the non-
volatile RAM storing the modem configuration
will be erased, so the user is then required to re-
enter the desired configuration parameters.
8. Verify that the new firmware file successfully loaded per the Step 7 process by observing the
loaded Firmware version, as displayed on the front panel VFD after reboot:
