CONFIG: ALL
All = Stop
(Stop, Start)
The user may configure the unit, in a step-by-step process, by viewing each menu in succession. Use
the [
↑][↓] arrow keys to select Stop or Start then press [ENT] to continue. For each parameter, use
the [
←][→] arrow keys to select and [↑][↓] arrow keys to edit parameters as needed. Press [ENT]
to continue through all the configurations. Press [CLR] to discontinue and return back to this top
menu. Select Stop, then press [ENT] to exit to the main menu.
5.4.2
CONFIG: MODE
IMPORTANT
The MODE is a key parameter when configuring the modem. To simplify the menu
choices, the user must first determine the INTERFACE and FRAMING type for both
Transmit and Receive. Once these have been selected, the user is only presented
with menu choices that are applicable to those particular modes.
Examples:
• If a G.703 interface is selected, the data rate menu will be restricted to only
the appropriate G.703 rates.
• If an IDR framing mode is selected, the data rate choices will be limited to
only those rates specified by IESS-308.
Mode: Tx=RS422:NONE Rx=RS422:None
(RS422 V35 RS232 G703B G703U AUDIO LVDS)
Interface type and Framing for both Tx and Rx may be selected from this menu. Select the
parameter to edit using the [
←][→] arrow keys. The options available for the selected parameter are
indicated on the bottom line. Not all options are always available: they depend on other settings or
on the FAST options of the modems. (The above display depicts an Interface Type editing
example.)
The first parameter is the Interface type. The Interface type options are as follows:
► RS422 (data rates up to 10 Mbps)
► V.35 (data rates up to 10 Mbps)
► RS232 (synchronous, data rates up to
► G.703:
o G.703B (Balanced)
o G.703U (Unbalanced)
► Audio (
FAST option)
► LVDS (data rates up to 20 Mbps)
Note: The AUDIO choice permits the user to carry 2 x 32 kbps ADPCM audio as the primary
data. This mode restricts the available framing types to IBS or EDMAC (see next
paragraph/table).
Scroll through the available options using the [
↑][↓] arrow keys, then press [ENT] once the
desired selection is made.
