5.4 Sending the Scanned Data by e-Mail

When [Off] is set for [Scan Viewer], the display for the scan settings and the
scanning status (preview) can be switched during the scan.
The maximum number of pages that can be scanned is 999.
When the blank page skip function is enabled, the number of scanned pages
excluding skipped blank pages is shown.
Additional pages can be scanned in place of skipped blank pages, until the
maximum number of scanned pages is reached.
When the scanning has completed, the [Scan Viewer] window appears.
6. Check and edit the scanned data.
Scanned data can be checked on the [Scan Viewer] window. The scanned data can
be edited on the scan viewer details window which is displayed after a scanned
image is selected. For more details, refer to

7. On the [Scan Viewer] window, press the [Send] button.
The scanned data in the specified file format is sent as an e-mail attachment.
If [Split Mails] is set to [On], split e-mails will be sent.
If the number of e-mail recipients exceeds the specified maximum number, a
warning message appears.
The [Main Menu] window is shown again.

Scanned data can be checked on the [Scan Viewer] window. The scanned data can be
edited on the scan viewer details window which is displayed after a scanned image is

If the [SMTP Authentication] window appears, enter authentication information needed
to access the SMTP server, and press the [OK] button.

The maximum number of e-mail addresses to be specified in the [To] field
Whether to split an e-mail to be sent, and the maximum size of a split e-mail
The maximum size of an attached file
To change these settings, contact the administrator. For more details, refer to

For photographs and graphics, their file sizes can be decreased by increasing the
compression rate. For details, refer to
"5.8.10 Compression" (page 288)

If the file format is JPEG, single page TIFF, single page PDF, or single page PDF/A, the
number of files that are attached to an e-mail will be the same number of pages that you
scanned.
If the e-mail fails to be sent, an error message e-mail with the following title is sent from the
scanner to the [From] address.
