12.18 Teleservice (not TNC 410)
Function
The TNC allows you to carry out Teleservice. To be able to use this
feature, your TNC should be equipped with an Ethernet card which
achieves a higher data transfer rate than the serial RS232-C interface.
With the HEIDENHAIN TeleService software, your machine tool
builder can then establish a connection to the TNC via an ISDN modem
and carry out diagnostics. The following functions are available:

On-line screen transfer
n
Polling of machine states
n
Data transfer
n
Remote control of the TNC
Generally, a connection via the Internet would also be possible. First
tests have shown, however, that the transfer rate that can currently
be achieved is not sufficient due to the high degree of utilization of the
networks.
Calling/Exiting Teleservice

Select any machine mode of operation.

To select the MOD function, press the MOD key.

Establish a connection to the service agency: Set the
SERVICE or SUPPORT soft key to ON. The TNC
breaks the connection automatically if no new data
have been transferred for a time set by the machine
tool builder (default: 15 min).

To break the connection to the service agency: Set the
SERVICE or SUPPORT soft key to OFF. The TNC
terminates the connection after approx. one minute.
The Teleservice functions are enabled and adapted by the
machine tool builder. The machine tool manual provides
further information.
The TNC provides two soft keys for the Teleservice,
making it possible to configure two different service
agencies.
