SNTP IP Addresses
SNTP IP Addresses
You can enter an IP address for an SNTP server using the TMV Configura-
tion Editor. When the IP address is entered, the time on the TMV board will
be synchronized with the SNTP server. Each TMV board will synchronize
with the SNTP server every eight minutes or after configuration change.
You cannot change this time interval. The time on the TMV board will only
be updated if it is different from the SNTP time by more than one second.
Note
The TMV only supports Unicast SNTP servers.
A GMT offset must be taken into consideration when verifying that the
correct time is displayed. This offset is added or subtracted from the time
received from the SNTP server. The SNTP server may be sending the
correct time for the time zone but using the GMT offset may result in the
wrong time.
Up to three SNTP server addresses may be configured in the preferred
order. To switch over from an inactive server to an active server may take
two poll cycles or approximately 16 minutes. One cycle will verify server
inactivity and one cycle to verify that the next SNTP server is active.
