Digital News Production
You are unable to send clips or sequences
between your NewsEdit system and a Grass
Valley Profile Server.
1. In Media Manager on the NewsEdit system, verify
that you have added the Profile system by choosing
File | Add/Remove Machine
.
2. In NewsEdit, verify that you have set up a send
destination to the Profile system by choosing
Tools |Options | Send
.
3. Using Notepad, open the
Hosts
file on the NewsEdit
system to verify that the fibre channel ID address of
the Profile system is listed along with the Profile
name_fc0. The path is
C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\Hosts.
You may need your IT engineer to check this file.
4. Verify that your fibre switch is showing good
connections for both the NewsEdit system and the
Profile (usually indicated by a solid green light).
5. Check the disk space available on the Profile.
6. Verify that checksums are enabled in the Profile
Configuration Manager.
7. If you've tried all of the above and still can't connect,
try rebooting the NewsEdit system, Profile, and fibre
switch, if possible.
Check with your IT engineer before you reboot.
After you send a sequence to a Profile Video
Server with a NewsQ Pro placeholder
associated with it, the Missing box in the
NewsEdit title bar doesn’t decrease by one, and
placeholder status in the Clip window still
doesn’t change to OK.
1. Make sure that the SDB Server machine (part of the
NewsQ Pro system) is connected to the same
network with the playout media server.
2. Make sure the SDB Server machine is logged in to
the network.
If these steps don’t work, reinitialize the SDB Server.
