10.
Steering Rack Removal and Replacement
10.1. Remove both front axle assemblies as described
in the “Front Axle Assembly Removal and
Replacement” section of this manual.
See Figure 10.1.
10.2. Loosen the stop collar on the upper steering
shaft using a 1/8” allen wrench. See Figure 10.2.
10.3. Center the steering wheel as described in the
“Checking and Adjusting the Front Wheel Align-
ment” section of this manual.
10.4. Remove the clamp bolt that tightens the univer-
sal joint on the upper steering shaft to the lower
steering shaft, using two 9/16” wrenches.

10.5. Pull or drive the upper steering shaft upward to
disengage it from the lower steering shaft at the
universal joint. See Figure 10.5.
10.6. Remove the two bolts that hold the steering
mounting bracket and rubber bushing to the
frame using two 9/16” wrenches.

10.7. Remove the steering mounting bracket and rub-
ber bushing from around the steering rack.
