8.5.

Strike the steering arm where the tie rod end
enters the tapered bore, using a heavy hammer.
See Figure 8.5.

NOTE: This will distort the tapered bore in the
steering knuckle, “spitting” out the tie rod end.

8.6.

Remove the nut from the tie rod end, and
remove the tie rod end from the steering
knuckle.

8.7.

Remove the nut from the tie rod end, and pull
the tie rod end out of the steering knuckle.
See Figure 8.7.

8.8.

Withdraw the bolt that holds the steering knuckle
to the axle assembly.

8.9.

Remove the steering knuckle from the axle
assembly. See Figure 8.9.

8.10. Remove the spacer from the axle assembly.
