Managing the HDLM Configuration

An unused major number could
not be released. Major number
= aa...aa. Refer to the Messages
section of the HDLM User's
Guide for instructions to correct
this problem.
Details
An attempt to release an intact
major number (aa...aa) has failed.
aa...aa: Major number (decimal
number)
Action
Restart the host. If the host does
not recover, execute the
DLMgetras utility for collecting
HDLM error information, and then
contact your HDLM vendor or the
maintenance company if there is a
maintenance contract for HDLM.

The maximum number of HDLM
device files has been reached.
Maximum number = aa...aa.
Modify the configuration of the
HDLM device to reduce the
number of HDLM devices used,
and then execute the dlmcfgmgr
utility again.
Details
An attempt to execute the HDLM-
configuration definition utility
(dlmcfgmgr) failed because the
maximum number of logical
device files has been created.

Revise the configuration of the
HDLM device to reduce the
number of HDLM devices used,
and then re-execute the
