messages and understand the explanations in the sections from KAPL01001
to KAPL02000 on page 8-4 .
• Format and meaning of the message IDs
• Terms used in the messages and message explanations
The information is explained below.
Format and Meaning of Message IDs
Each message has a message ID. The following table shows the format and
meaning of message IDs.

Format Meaning
KAPL Indicates that the message is an HDLM message.
nnnnn Message serial number for the module
l Message level
C: Critical
E: Error
W: Warning
I: Information
Terms Used in Messages and Message Explanations
The following table shows the terms that appear in messages and the terms
that are used for explanation (meaning, description, and handling) of the
messages.

Terms Meaning
aa...aa Variable (If a message contains two or more variables, they are
displayed as bb...bb, cc...cc, and so on.)
Operation name The operation name that is input after dlnkmgr in the command.
Components That Output Messages to syslog
Some messages for the following components are output to syslog:
• HDLM manager
• HDLM driver (filter component)
• HDLM alert driver
