The parameters are described in the table below:
PARAMETER
DESCRIPTION
1 - IP Address
This parameter specifies the IP address of the switch.
You must specify an IP address if you intend to
remotely manage the switch using a Telnet utility, or
an SNMP management program, or a Web browser
interface.
2 - Subnet Mask
This parameter specifies the subnet mask for the
switch. You must specify a subnet mask if you
assigned an IP address to the switch.
3 - Default
Gateway
This parameter specifies the default router’s IP
address. This address is required if you intend to
remotely manage the switch from a management
station that is separated from the switch by a router.
4 - System Name
This parameter specifies a name for the stack (for
example, Sales).
The value range is 1 to 40 alphanumeric characters.
However, setting for this parameter is only optional.
NOTE: It is advisable that you assign each stack a
name. The names can help you identify the various
switches when you manage them and avoid
performing a configuration procedure on the wrong
stack.
5 - Administrator
This parameter specifies the name of the network
administrator responsible for managing the switch.
The value range is 1 to 40 alphanumeric characters.
However, setting for this parameter is only optional.
6 - Comments
This parameter specifies additional information about
the switch, such as its location (for example, 4th Floor
- wiring closet 402B). The value range is 1 to 40
alphanumeric characters. However, setting for this
parameter is only optional.
7 - BOOTP/DHCP
This selection activates and deactivates the BOOTP
and DHCP services on the switch. For information on
this selection, refer to Activating the BOOTP and
DHCP Services on page 46.
8 - Set Passwords
This parameter is used to change the Manager and
Operator’s login passwords. For instructions, refer to
Configuring the Management Passwords on page
49.
9 - Reset Switch
This selection resets the switch.
