The menu selections in the window are described in the table
below:

PARAMETER

DESCRIPTION

1 - VLAN Name

Use this selection to change a VLAN’s name. The name
can be from one to fifteen characters in length. The
name should reflect the function of the nodes that will
be a part of the VLAN (for example, Sales or
Accounting). The name can contain spaces, but not
special characters, such as asterisks (*) or exclamation
points (!).

When changing a VLAN’s name, observe the following
guidelines:

A VLAN’s new name cannot be the same as the name

of another VLAN on the same switch. For example, if
the switch already contains a VLAN called Sales, you
could not change an existing VLAN’s name to Sales.

You could not change the name of the Default_VLAN.

NOTE: A VLAN must be assigned a name.

2 - VLAN ID
(VID)

This is the VLAN’s VID value. You could not change this
value.

3 - Tagged Ports

Use this selection to add or remove tagged ports from
the VLAN. You could specify the ports individually, as a
range, both individually and as a range, all ports (ALL),
or no port (NONE).

To add or remove tagged ports, enter the new list of
tagged ports for the VLAN by using the following
examples for guidelines. For example:

If the VLAN will contain individual tagged ports, you
would enter “4,7” for this value.

If the VLAN will contain a range of tagged ports of 5-9,

you would enter “5-9” for this value.

If the VLAN will contain both individual and in a range

of tagged ports of 2,4,5-9, you would enter “2,4,5-9”
for this value.

If the VLAN will contain all tagged ports, you would

enter ALL for this value.

If the VLAN contains tagged ports and you wish to

remove them all, you would enter NONE for this value.
