16.3. Remove the hex cap screw securing the ground
wire terminal, green wire, to the left engine
bracket and engine block using a 13mm socket.
See Figure 16.3.
NOTE: The hex cap screw securing the ground
wire is the second one back from the front of the
engine on the left side.
16.4. Remove the hex nut and lock washer securing
the positive cable terminal, thick red wire, to the
alternator stud using a 10mm socket. See Figure
16.4.
16.5. Remove the wiring harness connector, red wire
with a black tracer, from the rear of the alternator
by depressing the locking tab and pulling rear-
ward.
NOTE: The red wire connects to the inner most
spade of the alternator.

16.6. Remove the wiring harness connector, white
wire with a black tracer, from the coolant temper-
ature switch. See Figure 16.6.
16.7. Remove the hex flange nut securing the wiring
harness terminal, yellow wire, to the number one
glow plug using an 8mm wrench.
16.8. Remove the wiring harness terminal from the
glow plug.
16.9. Secure the hex flange nut.
16.10. Remove the breather tube from the intake mani-
fold 90° fitting. See Figure 16.10.
16.11. Cap the intake manifold 90° fitting.
NOTE: Make certain the 90° fitting is capped off
or dirt will enter into the system.
16.12. Pull the wiring harness rearward until it is free
from the engine.
