6.27. Insert a hex bolt and large flat washer through
the tapered ball bearing and oil seal in the final
drive housing. See Figure 6.27.
NOTE: Select a washer that seats firmly against
the inner race of the tapered roller bearing.
6.28. Thread the hex nut onto the end of the hex bolt.
6.29. Secure the hex nut in a vice. See Figure 6.29.

6.30. Drive the final drive housing away from the vice,
removing the inner portion of the tapered bear-
ing and the oil seal using a soft-faced ham-
mer. See Figure 6.30.
6.31. Remove the outer bearing race from the final
drive housing.
6.32. Remove the upper ball bearing, kingpin and o-
ring from the top of the pinion gear housing
assembly using a vice with brass soft-jaws, a
brass drift and a hammer. See Figure 6.32.
NOTE: It is recommended to replace the o-ring.
