17.11. Visually inspect the ball bearing on the splined
side of the LO: 59T; HI 50T drive gear assembly
for damage or wear. See Figure 17.11.
17.12. Inspect the large ball bearing for damage or
wear.
17.13. Remove the large internal retaining ring securing
the angular contact ball bearing in the transmis-
sion housing using large retaining ring pliers.
See Figure 17.13.
NOTE: The transmission housing has a raised
lip to contain the large internal retaining ring.
17.14. Remove the angular contact ball bearing, exter-
nal retaining ring and 16T pinion shaft from the
transmission. See Figure 17.14.
17.15. Remove the external retaining ring securing the
angular contact ball bearing to the 16T pinion
shaft using medium retaining ring pliers. See
Figure 17.15.
17.16. Remove the angular contact ball bearing from
the 16T pinion shaft.
17.17. Inspect all components for damage or wear.
