11.2. Separate the spline coupling gear from the 540
PTO pinion: 14T gear. See Figure 11.2.
11.3. Inspect both components for wear or damage.
See Figure 11.3.
11.4. Inspect the 540 PTO pinion: 14T gear’s sleeve
bushings for wear or damage.
NOTE: If the sleeve bushings are in need of
replacement, a press will be needed to install
new ones.

11.5. Remove the two speed collar from the PTO back
shaft. See Figure 11.5.
NOTE: The thin groove in the side of the two
speed collar faces the rear of the transmission.
11.6. Slowly pull the PTO back shaft and 2000 PTO
pinion: 34T gear rearward as an assembly. See
Figure 11.6.
11.7. Separate the PTO back shaft and the 2000 PTO
pinion: 34T gear from one another.
11.8. Remove the PTO back shaft and the 2000 PTO
pinion: 34T gear from the transmission.
