7. REAR HOUSING COVER BEARINGS AND
SEAL:
7.1. Remove the spacer from the PTO back shaft’s
ball bearing. See Figure 7.1.
7.2. Inspect the PTO back shaft ball bearing for wear
or damage.
NOTE: If the ball bearing needs replacement, a
blind hole bearing puller will be required for
removal. The new bearing will need to be
pressed into the rear housing cover.
7.3. Remove the 540 PTO shafts ball bearing from
the rear housing cover.
7.4. Inspect the 540 PTO shaft bearing for wear or
damage.
7.5. Remove the rear housing cover’s oil seal using a
flat-blade screwdriver. See Figure 7.5.
NOTE: The new oil seal will need to be installed
with an oil seal installation tool during assembly
7.6. Clean the rear housing cover’s mating face.
NOTE: Apply a bead of sealant to the mating
face during installation.
8. 540 REAR PTO ASSEMBLY:
8.1. Remove the 540 PTO shaft, 540 PTO: 81T gear
and the 2000 PTO: 61T gear. See Figure 8.1.
