7.41. Remove the outer race of the tapered roller

bearing, removed earlier, using a brass drift and
hammer. See Figure 7.41.

7.42. Remove the o-ring from the pinion gear shaft.

7.43. Remove the inner portion of the tapered ball

bearing from the pinion gear shaft using an arbor
press. See Figure 7.43.

7.44. Remove the shim(s) from the pinion gear shaft.

7.45. Remove the thrust washer from the pinion gear

shaft.

7.46. Inspect all components for wear or damage.

NOTE: If the seal contact surface of the collar is
scored or scratched, it may be replaced, pol-
ished, or sleeved.

7.47. Secure the differential assembly, horizontally, in

the soft-jaws of a vice. See Figure 7.47.
