23. FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ASSEMBLY
INSPECTION:
23.1. Inspect the four wheel drive assembly for dam-
age or wear. See Figure 23.1.
23.2. Remove all six center-grooved steel rollers from
the internal overrunning clutch component and
inspect each one for wear or damage. See Fig-
ure 23.2.
NOTE: If the steel rollers are damaged, the
overrunning clutch assembly will need to be
replaced as an assembly.

23.3. Remove the long extension spring from the
perimeter of the internal overrunning clutch com-
ponent. See Figure 23.3.
23.4. Secure the front cover of the four wheel drive
shaft assembly in the soft jams of a vice. See
Figure 23.4.
23.5. Puncture the front oil seal using a pin punch.
