18. DIFFERENTIAL LOCK ACTUATOR SHAFT:
18.1. Collapse the compression spring on the differen-
tial lock actuator shaft until the tension is
removed from the flat washer and retainer clip
using a valve spring compressor. See Figure
18.1.
18.2. Remove the retainer clip securing the flat
washer and compression spring in position using
a flat-blade screwdriver.
18.3. Release the compression spring tension.
18.4. Slide the differential lock yoke to the left, engag-
ing the differential lock collar.
18.5. Remove the rotor clip securing the differential
lock yoke in position using a 90° removal tool.

18.6. Slide the differential lock actuator to the left until
the differential lock yoke can be removed.
NOTE: Make certain the flat portion of the differ-
ential lock actuator is parallel to the top of the
transmission housing during assembly.
18.7. Remove the differential lock yoke.
18.8. Grasp the flat washer and compression spring
with one hand and remove the differential lock
actuator shaft with the other hand. See Figure
18.8.
18.9. Inspect all components for wear or damage. See
Figure 18.9.
