Installing an additional memory module
NOTE: Since the memory module is a precise electronic
device, it may be seriously damaged by static electricity. The
human body is always charged with a small amount of static
electricity. Before installing a memory module, be sure to
discharge static electricity from your body by touching a
metallic object such as the server's frame lightly with your
fingers.
Before installating an additional memory module, carefully read
“Before starting operation” on page 57 and proceed to the job
following procedure mentioned below:
1 If the server is in on, shut it down and turn off the power.
2 Unplug all the power cables from the AC outlets.
NOTE: Installing a memory module while the server is still on
could cause damage to the server and/or the memory
module.
3 Remove the panels from the server.
See “Removing and replacing the server panels” on page 25.
4 Turn the screws for securing the exhaust fan duct
counterclockwise to release the lock.
NOTE:
When a 3.06 GHz CPU module is mounted, no
exhaust fan duct is attached. Steps 4 and 5 are not required.
