If the EPS-R module is put in the redundant state, the operation is
continued by a spare EPS-R module without stopping the system,
even if one EPS-R module fails (downgraded operation). The
faulty EPS-R module can be replaced (hot plugged) with a normal
device without stopping the system and recovered to the redundant
configuration. When the EPS-R module fails, the power unit fault
indicator (
) of the front door lights up amber and the
indicator on the faulty EPS-R module goes off.
CAUTION: Do not use the handle of the EPS-R module to lift
up the server, or you could injure yourself with it.
NOTE: When using two EPS-R modules for redundancy,
even if one of the two EPS-R modules breaks down, opera-
tion continues on the remaining device and the system does
not go down (Downgraded Operation). However, if both EPS-
R modules go down at the same time, important programs or
data may be lost or corrupted. Replace faulty EPS-R mod-
ules with functional devices as quickly as possible.
Note that cutting off the DC power does not cause the fan of
the power supply unit to stop.
