1 Immediately turn the server off, and disconnect all the plugs
from the AC outlets.
2 Does the installation site satisfy the environmental
considerations (e.g. ambient temperature, humidity and
location)?
See “Environmental considerations” on page 4.
3 Are there any foreign objects blocking ventilation holes?
Nothing happens if you press the power button. Or, nothing
appears on screen even though you can hear the server
running
Probable causes are that the peripheral devices or cables are not
correctly connected, or fatal trouble has occurred on the server.
Carry out the following procedure to check the cause of the
trouble. If this does not remedy the problem, turn off the power
first, and then proceed to “Remedy When Windows Server 2003/
Windows 2000 is unusable” on page 210.
1 Are the keyboard, mouse, and display unit connected to the
server correctly ?
If the switch box is used on a rack model, check the
connections with other devices and that the server is also
properly selected.
See “Connecting peripheral devices” on page 37.
2 Is the PCI expansion card correctly inserted in the appropriate
slot on the motherboard, and is it held firmly in place by the
card support?
See “Installing and removing optional devices” on page 56.
See “Expansion cards” on page 129.
3 Check that the correct number of power supply units is
installed.
