Power On Self Test (POST)
Pressing the power button on the front panel of the server switches
the server ON and starts the Power On Self Test (POST). The
POST automatically checks the motherboard, microprocessors,
memory, keyboard and peripheral devices connected to the server.
During the memory test, the POST accesses and checks the
server’s memory, and displays its memory available on the screen.
During POST, a message as shown below is displayed in the
lower-left hand corner of the screen.
If the key is pressed at this stage, the BIOS Setup Utility
starts. If the key is not pressed, the system continues to
start up.
If an error is detected during POST, a buzzer sounds (beep code)
or an error message is displayed, depending on the error type.
