SCSI devices
Installation of a SCSI device requires special knowledge and
skills. If you have no experienced in installing a SCSI device, or if
the work seems difficult, contact Toshiba Technical Support or
your local Toshiba dealer. (You will be charged a service fee.)
NOTE: If the IDE HDD is connected with the server, it is
required to use an optional SCSI host adapter to install a
SCSI device.
For connecting a SCSI host adapter:
See “Expansion cards” on page 96.
If a SCSI device is connected using the SCSI host adapter
with which the SCSI HDD has been connected , it may lower
the performance of the server. To avoid decline in the server
performance, connect another SCSI host adapter to the
server and connect a SCSI device with the additional SCSI
host adapter.
Only devices with a maximum rating of 20 watts may be used
in the 5.25-inch bays and the 3.5-inch bays.
SCSI ID
Carefully enter the SCSI ID of a newly installed SCSI device so as
not to duplicate any other SCSI ID of the existing SCSI device.
See the Addendum sheets of the devices to expand and the SCSI
host adapter.
Termination
Since the SCSI bus must be terminated, terminate the device that
is connected at the end of the SCSI bus or connect a terminator
(terminating resistor) to the end of the SCSI cable.
