37 Working with the Layout Grid Manager

The Layout Grid Manager allows you to view layout grids showing patterns of physical disk, logical
disk, virtual volume, and Common Provisioning Group (CPG) usage. These grids can be used to
monitor resource allocation.

NOTE:

Logical disk information only appears if you have set your preferences in the InForm

Management Console to display logical disk information. See

“Setting Global Preferences”

(page 33)

.

The following topics discuss each layout grid:

“Viewing Layout Information for All Systems” (page 232)

“Viewing the Virtual Volumes Layout Screen” (page 234)

“Viewing the CPGs Layout Screen” (page 235)

“Viewing the Logical Disks Layout Screen” (page 236)

The following figure describes the structure of each layout grid:

All types of chunklet grid screens share the same basic features:

The far left column lists all physical disks in the storage server using the format:
::

can be 0 (left side of the drive chassis) or 1 (right side of the drive chassis).

can be 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4.

can be 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4, where 0 is the position closest to the backplane.

Each row represents the storage space of the disk indicated in the left column, with each cell in
the grid representing one chunklet, or 256 megabytes.

Markers indicating the quantity of chunklets in multiples of 10 appear along the top of the grid.
