Each BCC provides two LVD SCSI ports (B in

Figure 5

) for connection to the controller

enclosure.

The EEPROM on each BCC stores 2

K

bytes of configuration information and user-defined

data, including the manufacturer serial number, World Wide Name, and product number.

The following are additional features of the BCC:

LEDs (C in

Figure 5

) show the status of the BCC and the bus.

A rotary switch (D) used to set the enclosure (tray) ID which is used by internal
controller operations, and also by the management tools to identify each enclosure.

DIP switches set disk enclosure options. The only option used by the Disk Array FC60
is the full-bus/split-bus mode.

Screws (F) prevent the card from being unintentionally disconnected.

Cam levers (G) assist in installing and removing the BCC from the enclosure, ensuring
a tight connection with the backplane.

BCC functions include drive addressing, fault detection, and environmental services.
