To modify the storage subsystem properties, select the Modify Properties method in the method frame to
open the Modify Properties panel for the storage subsystem (see
Figure 10-4
).
You can change the following storage subsystem properties:
•
Name: Enter a name that identifies the storage subsystem. Enter no more than 50 bytes, using the
following characters:
A-Z
, a-z, 0-9, -, _, ., @
The name can include spaces, but cannot consist only of spaces. Leading or trailing spaces are
discarded.
NOTE:
Regarding LUN Scan: If you change the storage subsystem name after a LUN scan, the
names of the corresponding logical groups in the LUN SCAN group are not updated. You need to
rename those groups to match the new storage subsystem name. If you do not rename the groups,
and then execute another LUN scan on the renamed storage subsystem, a second set of logical
groups will be created in the LUN SCAN group using the new storage subsystem name.
•
User ID (not displayed for StorageWorks XP512/XP48): Enter the user ID for the storage subsystem.
Enter no more than 25 bytes, using the following characters:
A-Z
, a-z, 0-9, -, _, ., @
The user ID can include spaces, but cannot consist only of spaces. Leading or trailing spaces are
discarded.

New Password (not displayed for StorageWorks XP512/XP48): Enter the new password for
accessing the storage subsystem using Device Manager. Enter no more than 40 bytes, using the
following characters:
A-Z
, a-z, 0-9, -, _, ., @
The new password can include spaces, but cannot consist only of spaces. Leading or trailing spaces
are discarded.
For StorageWorks XP12000/XP10000 and XP1024/XP128, the user ID is required and the password
is optional.
4.
When you are finished modifying the properties, select OK to modify the properties as specified, or select
Cancel to cancel your request to modify the properties.
