Label Media Type Overview
This section describes the types of label media you can use with the Vivo! Touch
printer.
Reflective Mark Media
Reflective mark media has black cue marks printed on the top, between labels or on the
bottom, on the label liner. These marks are read by a sensor on the feeder to determine
the starting point of new labels.
During the die cutting process for this type of label, the matrix material is left intact.
This allows printing labels with color up to or even over the label edge, often referred
to as printing full-bleed.
Gap Media
Gap media has spaces between each label resulting from the removal of the matrix
during the die cutting process.
When the matrix material is removed and the liner exposed, the die cut labels are
separated by gaps. These gaps are read by a sensor on the feeder to determine the
starting point of new labels.
Note: Do not print full-bleed on gap media. Labels must be designed to ensure that no attempt
is made to print on exposed backing. Toner will not adhere to this material. Attempts to print
on backing will result in loose toner within the printer that will cause multiple problems.
Continuous Media
Continuous media does not have reflective marks. It also does not have die cuts, and
therefore contains no gaps. It is a continuous sheet of label material affixed to a liner.
Loading Label Rolls

If you are replacing a spent roll, inspect the feeder media path and locate the
end-of-roll tape/label from the spent roll. Remove this tape/label and discard.
Caution: If the end-of-roll tape/label is not removed, it can enter the printer and cause
major damage to printing components.
