Replacing Toner Cartridges
The touchscreen will indicate when a toner cartridge is beginning to near the end of its
service life. The printer will then begin “stirring” the toner to maximize its remaining
service life.
When print quality decreases as a result of low toner, you will need to install a
replacement toner cartridge. You should also clean the LED arrays when you replace
a toner cartridge.
Warning: Take extreme care when handling toner. Toner can be harmful if inhaled, swallowed
or if it gets in the eyes. Toner can also stain hands and clothing. Refer to the Material Safety
Data Sheets for more information. Material Safety Data Sheets are available from QuickLabel
Support.
Note: If any toner spills during this procedure, you can clean it easily with the QuickVac. Do
not attempt to wipe the toner or use solvents, as this will make vacuuming the toner more
difficult.
1
Turn the printer power off.
2
Ensure the new toner cartridge contains the correct color. Open the new toner box
and remove the shipping clip from the colored toner release lever. Then remove
the packing tape from the toner vent.
3
Open the top cover of the Vivo! Touch.
Leaving the cover open exposes the image drums to light. Image drums are
sensitive to light. Never expose image drums to light for more than five minutes
and never expose the image drum to direct sunlight. Try to change the toner as
quickly as possible to reduce light exposure.
4
Locate the cartridge that will be replaced. Turn the colored toner release lever to
the left to prevent toner spillage. Then lift the cartridge out of the image drum,
lifting the side with the colored lever first.
