Vivo! Touch User Guide

Slitting Labels

1

Place the label slitter so that it is perpendicular to the web of labels to be slit. Refer
to the paper path diagram on the slitter.

Loosen the black knob holding the red blade cover shield. Rotate the black knob
assembly approximately one-half turn so it is facing down and out of the way.

Raise the blade cover shield to the vertical position.

Warning: The cutter blade is sharp. Use caution to avoid personal injury or damage to
clothing when working with cutting blades or around exposed blade surfaces.

Rotate the blade holder shaft slightly to lift the blade holders from the round white
nylon fixed paper guide.

2

Plug the power adapter into the rewinder, and plug the rewinder into an earth
grounded AC receptacle. Press the “Power On” switch on the back of the rewinder.
Position the rewinder to the right of the slitter.

Load your roll of printed labels onto the rewinder mandrel. Labels should unroll
over the top of the roll to the left, toward the slitter. Push in until the roll is
positioned against the clear plastic label guide.

3

Being careful to avoid contact with the cutting blades, feed the label web under the
rotating paper guide and over the fixed paper guide.

Adjust the position of the rings on the rotating and fixed paper guides to the width
of your label web. Only finger tighten the screws.

Pull the label web through, allowing enough media to reach the rewinder that will
receive the slit labels.

4

Being careful to avoid contact with the cutting blades, adjust the position of the
blade holders as desired. To do this, loosen the white nylon set screw of the blade
holders and slide the blade holders in or out as needed.

Finger tighten the white nylon set screw to hold the adjustment. Do not over
tighten.

Extend the cutting blades as required using the black click-stop adjustment on the
side of each knife.

Note: The blade tip must extend well past the round white nylon rod so the cutting blade
itself is resting on the white nylon. Do not use the very tip of the blade.

5

Being careful to avoid contact with the cutting blades, rotate the blade holders
down until the cutting blades rest lightly on the fixed paper guide. The blades
must pierce the label web to be slit.

Now lower the red blade shield to the blade holders. Secure the red blade shield
by rotating the small black knob assembly into the slot on the red blade shield and
tightening the small black knob until it is snug. The blades will press into the nylon
bar.

Note: Do not overtighten. If the red blade shield does not press on all blade holders equally,
loosen the mounting nuts for the blade shield hinge on the chassis and reposition them until
the blade shield is level with the blade holders.
