B.5 Modem Utilities
B.5.1 Firmware Type Display
A field-technician can read the model number, firmware types, release date, revision and
serial number of the main board from the front panel, and remotely through the user
port.
B.5.2 Reed-Solomon and Interface Type Display
A field-technician can read the firmware types, release date, revision, and serial numbers
of all the boards from the front panel or the user port.
B.5.3 Compatibility Display
A field-technician can read the modem’s current configuration of installed options from
the front panel or the user port.
B.5.4 DAC Software/Firmware Upload
A field-technician can upgrade the DAC software or firmware through the user port, by
the use of a software utility provided by Comtech EF Data.
B.5.5 Master Reset
The NMS operator or a field-technician will be able to reset the entire modem. When
applied, all circuits in the modem will be reset and/or re-programmed. After a soft reset,
the modem will return to its configuration prior to resetting. A hard reset will return the
configuration to the factory default settings.
