Communications
ADS offers remote wireless communication for the FlowShark IS
monitor. The wireless communication is performed over the
GSM/GPRS cellular network using TCP/IP (Transmission Control
Protocol/Internet Protocol) through the modem in the EMU. TCP/IP
facilitates high-speed, low-cost, efficient communication in areas
with GSM/GPRS coverage.
On-site communication with all monitors is available through an IS
PC direct connection cable (ADS p/n 106228A) or an EMU serial
cable (ADS p/n 3800-0147).
Note:
If the monitor is externally powered, the user
cannot connect directly to the monitor using the direct
connection cable (ADS p/n 106228A cable). The user
must use the EMU serial cable (ADS p/n 3800-0147).
Digital Signal Processor
The Digital Signal Processor (DSP) board (ADS p/n 5000-0636)
contains the central processing unit (CPU). As the source of all
monitor activity, the DSP board is responsible for all of the
monitor's high-level functions, including the following:
Controlling user communication with the monitor
Scanning the analog board to retrieve and store sensor data
Maintaining the monitor time and date
Performing power management
Providing each board with the parameters required to carry out
the associated operations
Transmitting the stored and current data to the user's PC
Initiating event notification through alarms
