5. Once maintenance is complete, re-mount and secure the EMU
to the panel inside the enclosure using the fasteners.
6. Replace or close the cover to the enclosure.
Replacing the Battery in the EMU
If the Monitor Status report from Profile reveals an external voltage
of 8.0 volts or less, replace the battery pack in the EMU. The EMU
uses one non-IS battery pack (ADS p/n 5000-0557).
Replace the battery pack in the following way:
1. Disconnect the battery cable from the EMU power cable, and
remove the battery pack from the EMU.
2. Install the new battery with the cable extending out the left side
of the compartment.
3. Connect the cable from the new battery pack to the EMU
power cable.
4. Have a data analyst contact the monitor remotely to verify
communication and the external battery voltage.
5. Replace the cover on the EMU and tighten the four plastic
screws, provided all EMU maintenance is complete.
Replacing the EMU Modem
Replace the quad-band GSM/GPRS wireless modem (ADS p/n
507209) in the EMU in the following way:
1. Disconnect the power (battery or external) running to the
EMU/modem.
2. Remove the two Phillips head screws that secure the modem
bracket to the back panel of the EMU, and then remove the
3. Disconnect the antenna cable from the modem by unscrewing
the gold nut (at the connector end of the antenna cable) from
the modem connector.
4. Remove the modem bracket with the modem from the EMU.
