Note:
Some desiccant may be reused following a special
process designed to remove the moisture from the beads.
Please consult the desiccant manufacturer for instructions
on performing this procedure, when applicable.
Replacing EMU Components
If a component in the EMU is not functioning, perform the
following procedures (as applicable) to replace the faulty
component.
Note:
ADS allows trained field crews to replace the
quad-band GSM/GPRS wireless modem, SIM, and EMU
battery pack within the EMU box.
Warning:
DO NOT open the Communication
Interface/Barrier (ADS p/n 106226) Box in the field under
any circumstances. Do not attempt any component level
repair.
Accessing the EMU for Maintenance Activities
Access the EMU from the enclosure and open the EMU to access
the component(s) requiring replacement in the following way:
1. Open or remove the cover from the enclosure in which the
EMU is housed.
2. Remove the EMU from the enclosure by releasing the fasteners
securing the EMU to the panel inside the enclosure.
3. Loosen the 4 large plastic screws on the cover of the EMU and
remove the cover. Carefully set the cover aside to avoid
damage and prevent dirt from contacting the gasket on the lid.
4. Refer to one or more of the following sections to perform
modem, battery, or SIM replacement.
