Battery

The battery customer-replaceable unit (CRU), located in Nonstop S-series I/O enclosures, is an assembly of 24 cells
rated at 2.5 amp-hours per cell. The batteries are designed to handle occasional power failures that might occur at
typical computer sites. Each I/O enclosure contains two batteries.

Location in OSM Tree: System > Group > Module > Battery

Slot Location: In processor enclosures, battery CRUs are located in slots 23 and 28 (appearance side).

Example: Battery (1.1.28)

Attributes

Battery

Displayed in the Attributes tab and Attributes dialog box only if the value is something other than
OK.

Values

Service State

Physical

Identifies the manufacturer of the component.

Manufacturer

Indication of whether the component is powered on.

Values

Power State

Logical

The condition of the battery CRU.

Fully Charged: The battery is fully charged.

Charging: The battery is in the process of being charged.

Critical:T he battery needs recharging or replacement.

Unknown: The battery is not responding, and its state cannot be determined.

Charge State

The initial state of the power supply CRU at the time of discovery.

Values

Enabled State

Upper Voltage Sensor

The current voltage of the upper twelve cells of the battery.

Current Value

Lower Voltage Sensor

The current voltage of the lower twelve cells of the battery.

Current Value

Differential Voltage Sensor

The current voltage difference between the upper and lower cells of the battery.

Current Value

Total Voltage Sensor

The minimum voltage that the battery should maintain is 42 volts.
If the battery's Total Voltage falls below 42 volts, an alarm is generated. (If the Total Voltage falls
below the Disconnect Voltage Limit of 39.6 volts, the battery is disconnected.)

Normal Minimum Value

The minimum voltage that the battery must maintain to continue operating is 39.6 volts.
If the battery's Total Voltage falls below 39.6, the battery is disconnected. This disconnection
could cause an enclosure or the entire system to go down.

Lower Fatal Threshold

The current combined voltage of both the upper and lower cells of the battery.
— If the Total Voltage falls below 42 volts, an alarm is generated.

— If the Total Voltage falls below the 39.6 volts, the battery is disconnected.

Current Value

The maximum voltage that the battery can hold (60 volts).
