Module

A set of components that share a common hardware interconnection, such as a backplane. This object applies only
to Nonstop S-series processor and I/O enclosures, in which each enclosure contains contains one

group

, and a group

contains only one module. The module is considered a subcomponent of the group. IOAM enclosures contain two

The values displayed by these attributes are assigned through the

Set Physical Location

action.

A user-defined name assigned to identify the rack in which the module is located.

Rack Name

A number (from 1 to 42) assigned to describe the location of the module within the
rack.

Rack Offset

An optional text string assigned to further identify the physical location of the module.
This attribute is displayed only if a value is specified using the Set Physical Location
action.

Locator

For DC-powered Telco systems only.
Displays the system alarm panel (SAP) identifier for this hardware resource, as
specified through the Alarm Panel Identifier option within the

Set Physical Location

action. This attribute is displayed only if a value is specied through the action.

Temperature Sensor

The current temperature, in degrees Celsius (°C), inside the enclosure of the module.

Causes OSM to

refresh

and

reanalyze

all components within the module. Use this action in situations such as:

OSM does not recognize a new CRU following a CRU replacement.

An alarm remains after the alarm condition has been fixed.

Redundant Power Scrub

Tests fault tolerance of the power environment within the module. If the results of the action indicate a problem, check
the Power State attribute of the individual CRUs to determine where the problem lies.

This action is run automatically at 2:00 a.m. daily. It can also be performed manually at any time. See note below for
default value of the new Redundant Power Scrub test.

On T0682AAC and later, this OSM action is also supported on Telco systems.

NOTE:

A new version of Redundant Power Scrub is available in T0682 ABE and later. It provides independent

battery testing and an extended load test for the bulk power supplies. With this new version, the action can take up
to 25 minutes to complete. The new battery scrub is significantly enhanced in its ability to detect weak or failed batteries.
For systems with many old batteries (over 5 years old), the battery scrub might call out multiple batteries for replacement.

To use this new functionality, in addition to installing OSM T0682 ABE or later, you must:

Update all enclosures with a new PIB-to-PIB crossover cable (see FCO 44440).

Add "PowerScrubVersion = 3" parameter to your OSMCONF file.

The default test interval for this new version is 7 days instead of 24 hours.
