NOTE:
Contrary to the generic dialog text, for disk firmware you must specify the firmware source file path
(established in Step 1). Because disk firmware versions vary, OSM does not use a default file name. If you do
not specify a valid file path, the action fails.
6.
Enter the firmware source file path (established in Step 1) and click OK.
7.
Restart the disk or disks.
Power Off
Removes power to the disk drive.
Power On
Restores power to the disk drive.
Reset Backup Path
Places the backup path in a state from which it can be started.
Reset Disk
Places the disk in a state from which it can be started. This action might be necessary before starting a disk that has
both paths in a Hard Down state; for example, if a hardware error has occurred, if the disk was stopped with an Abort
action, or if a Stop or Abort fails to put the disk into the Down state.
If only one disk path is in a Hard Down state, you can use the
as appropriate.
Reset Primary Path
Places the primary path in a state from which it can be started.
Reset Volume
Places the volume in a state from which it can be started.
Responsive Test
Verifies that the disk drive is installed and responding.
Start Backup Path
Starts the backup path to this disk drive. When the Start action completes, the backup path is in the Started state.
This action fails if both paths to this disk are down and the mirrored disk is Up. For more information, see
.
Start Disk
Use this action to start all paths to the disk drive only when:
•
The disk paths are in a Down state. (Hard Down states require a reset action, either
,
as appropriate.)
•
Its mirrored disk is not currently Up. The Start Disk action is designed to fail if the mirrored disk is already in an
Up state because the mirror and primary disk volumes can have different data and require a revive operation.
To revive and bring up the disks properly, use the OSM
action or SCF START DISK command.
When the action completes successfully, all paths to the disk are in the Started state.
Start Primary Path
Starts the primary path to this disk drive. When the Start action completes, the primary path is in the Started state.
This action fails if both paths to this disk are down and the mirrored disk is Up. For more information, see
.
Start Volume
Starts all paths for both the primary and mirror drives of this volume unless they are in a Hard Down state. Disk paths
in a Hard Down state require a reset action first (either
appropriate).
Stop Backup Path
Terminates the backup path to the disk. When the Stop action finishes, the path is in a Down state. If the disk drive
is currently in use, a dialog box warns you and asks whether or not you want to continue with the action.
