Configuration preset considerations

Orphaned Kaltura resource registrations and duplicate resources

Returning Pearl Mini to the factory defaults using the factory default configuration preset or performing a
factory reset does not delete the registered resource instance in Kaltura CMS. In that case, you can reregister
your Pearl Mini using the same resource name and take over for the resource instance that is still registered in
Kaltura, see

Reassign a registered resource

.

If you apply a configuration preset to set up a replacement Pearl Mini with the settings from a Pearl Mini that
is currently registered with Kaltura, the replacement Pearl Mini assumes the identity of the registered
resource. However, you risk having two active Pearl Mini resources with the same identity, which can effect
recording and the content that's uploaded to Kaltura for scheduled events.

To remove the risk of having two active devices with the same registered resource identity in Kaltura, we
recommend powering down one of the Pearl Mini resources, then disconnect it from the network and
consider performing a factory reset or applying the factory default configuration preset.

Disabling AV Studio remote login and presets with paired channels

Do not create configuration presets while a channel is paired to your AV Studio account. Disabling AV Studio
using the Admin Panel and then applying a preset that was created when the channel was paired causes an
incorrect paired state in the Admin Panel. The channel's paired state in the Admin Panel shows the channel as
paired but the actual status in AV Studio is permanently offline and unpaired. You must delete the encoder in
AV Studio, disable and then re-enable the AV Studio feature using the Admin Panel to restore the channel to
the correct status.

Deleting an encoder in AV Studio permanently deletes all uploaded recordings and renders
associated with that encoder.
