Shifting the transfer case to NEUTRAL can
cause your vehicle tc füll even if the
transmission is in PARK (P). You or someone
else could be seriously Injured. Be sure to set
the parking brake before placing the Iransfer
case In NEUTRAL. See '‘Parking Brake" Jn
the Index.

Inform alien
An mdicaior light in the knob will show yoiJ which
position the transfer case is in. Tho indicator iighls will
come on bnetly when you turn on the ignition and
one wHI slay on. If the lights do not come on, you should
lake your vehicle to your dealer for service An
indicator light will flash while shifting Ihg transJer case.
It will remain illuminated whan ihe shift is complele.
If tor some reason the transfer case cannot make
a requested shift, it will return to the last chosen
setting.
If the SERVICE 4WD Ifghi on the mstrumenl panel
cluster stays on, you should take your vohide To your
dealer for service. See

Shifting into 4HI or A4WD
Turn the knob lo 4HI or A4WD. This can be done at any
spead and the indicator light
will Rash while shifting. It
Will remain illuminated when the shift is complete.
Shifting into 2Ht
Turn the knob tü 2HI. This can ba done al any speed.
Shifting into 4LO
To shut to 4LOp the vehicle's engine must be running
and the vehicle must bo stopped or moving less than
2 mph {3.2 km/h) wilh ihe transmission in NEUTRAL (N).
The preferred'irnethod for shtftingi Into 4LO is to have your
vehicle moving 1 or
2 mph [1.6 lo 3.2 Rrnrh), Turn tho
knob 10 4LO. You must wait for Iha 4L0 indicator light to
stop flashing and remain illuminated before shifting your
transmission inlo gear
If you fum ihe knob tg 4L0 when your vehicle is in gear
andmr moving, the 4LO indicator fight will Hash Igr
30 seconds and not complete the shiff unless your
vehicle is movmg less than
2 mph {3.2 km/h) and the
irensmission is in NEUTRAL {N]. Attar 30 seconds, the
Iransler case will relum to the selling lasf chosen
