If a Tire Goes Fiat
It's unusual lor a tire \o “blowour while i/ou’re driving,
especially it you maintain ytjur tires praperly, If air goes
out or a tire, it's much more likely lo leak out slowly.
Bui if you strauld ever have a ‘'blowouf, hare ana
a few
tips about what to expect and whal to do:
If a fnoni tire falls, the Hat tine will create a drag that
pulls the vehicle tov;ard thal side. Take your toot off the
accelerater pedal and grip the steering wheel iirmJy,
Steer to maintain lane position, and then gently brake to
a slop w&ll out ei the traffic lane.
Л rear blowout, particularly on a curve, acts much tike a
sled and may require the same correction you'd use
rn a skid. In any rear blowout, remove your foot from the
accelerator pedal. Gel the vehicle under control by
stoaring tha way you wani the vehicle to go it may be
very bumpy and noisy^ but you can stNt steer. Gently
brake tc a stop — well off the mad it possible.

Changing a Flat Tire

by driving slowly to a level place. Turn on your
hazard warning flsshers..
Changing a lire can cause an Injury. The

injured. Find a level place to change your tire.
To help prevent the vehicle troim moving:
1. &at the parking brake firmly.
2. Pul the shifi lever In PARK (P).
3. If you have a four-wheel-drive vehicle,
be sure the transfer case ts tn a drive
