1 Check the other vehicle. It musi have a 12-voll

If I he other system isnT a 12-volt system
with a negative ground^ both vehfcLes can be
damaged.

Get the vehicles close enough so the lumper cables
can reach, but be sure ibe vahiclas aren't touching
each other. If Ihey are, It could cause a ground
tonnecEion you don’t want. You wouldn't be able to
start your vehlcla, and the bad grounding could
damage the electrical systems
To avoid the possibility ot the vehicles rollmg, set
iho parking brake ffrmly on both vehicles Involved
in
the jump slarl procedure. Put an automatic
Transmission in PARK {P) or a manual transmission
m WEUTRAL before setting The parking brake.
If you have a lour-wheel’drive vehide. be sute ihe
Iransfer case is not in MEUTRAL.
Notice:
If
you leave your radio on, it could be badly
damaged- The repairs wouldn't be covered by
your warranty.
3. Turn off the igniiion on both vehicles. Unplug
unnecessary accessones plugged into ihe cigarette
lighter or accessory power outlets (H equipped).
Turn off the radio and all lamps lhat aren't needed.
This will avoid sparks end help to save bo1h
batteries. And it could save your radio!
4. Open, both hoods and locate the batlerias. Find the
posilive (+) and
negalivs
(-) terminals on each
battery. Your vehicle has a remote negative jump
siarting terminal. You should always use this
reimote
lerminal
instead o) the terminal on Ihe
battery. The remote negaliveH terminal Is located
on the front engine lift bracket ar^d is marked
"GND." See
