New Vehicle Break-In

"break-in." But il wfll perform better in the long run
if you follow these guidelines:
* Keep your speed at
55
mph {BS km/h) or less
for the first 5Q0 miles {S05 km).
* Don't ctrfye al any one speed — fast or
slow — for the first 5tK) miles {SOS km).
Don't make fulMhrottie starts.
• Avoid making hard stops lor the first 200 milaa
(322
km) or
50.
During this time your new
brake linings aren't yet broken in. Hard stops
with new linings can mean premature wear and
earlier replacement. Follow ibis breaking^in
guideline every time you get new brake linings.
• Don't low a trailer during break-ln. See "Towing
a Trailer' in the Indeji for imore information.
Ignition Positions
Use ihe Key (o turn the ignition switch to four different
pos liions.
A (LOCK): This position locks !he ignition ¿md
transmission. It's a ihefl-deterrenf feature. You will only
be able to remove the key whan the ignition is turned
tO' LOCK.
