Automatic Transmission Shilt Lock
Controi System Check
Л CAUTION:
When you зге doing this check, the vehicle

could be injured. Follow the steps below,
1, Belore you sldrl, be sum you have enough room
around (he vehicle. It should be t>arkeo on a level
surface.
Э. Flnrily apply the parking brake. Вве Parking Brake
on page 2-29 if necessary.
Be ready to apply the reguter brake immediaieiv
it the vehicle begins to rnove,
Э. Wilh me engine off, turn the key lo ihe RUN
position, but don’t Sian the engine. Witboul applying
the regular brake, Iry lo move !he shill lever out

PARK {Pj wilh normal effort, If the shift lever
moves out ol PAFIK (P), your vehicla needs servico+
ignition Transmission Lock Check
While parked, and with (he parking brake set, try to turn
the ignilion key (o LOCK In each shift lever position,
• Tha key should turn to LOCK unly when the
shift lever is in PARK (P).
• TKfl key should Ooitie out Or>ly lO LOCK.
