NOTE
The thin flat backup seal washer goes to the
front, and the round “O” ring seal goes towards
the rear of the end cap. See Figure 6-148.
13. Remove all the paint from the piston rod end.

NOTE
Make certain the piston rod end does not
become scored.
14. Remove the rod end cap from the piston rod.
See Figure 6-150.
15. Remove and replace all inner components of
the rod end cap. See Figure 6-151.
NOTE
The rear position contains a “U” ring, the cen-
ter position contains a flat rod seal, and the
front position contains an angular rod wiper
(raised ridge towards the center).
16. Remove and replace the piston components.
