14. Remove the lower coupling half from the gear
pump input shaft. See Figure 6-101.
NOTE
If the lower coupling half will not come off the
input shaft easily, use a pickle fork between the
rear coupling support bracket and the coupling.
See Figure 6-101.
15. Remove and inspect the half-moon key from
the gear pump input shaft using a small punch.
16. Remove both hex bolts, hex nuts and lock
washers securing the rear coupling support
bracket to the gear pump using a 1/2" socket
and a 1/2" wrench.
17. Replace the gear pump and install it in the
reverse order above.
Informational Hydraulic Gear Pump Disassembly

DO NOT perform this section under warranty!
It voids all warranty. This section has been cre-
ated for the inquisitive mechanic who wants to
know more about the internal workings of the
hydraulic gear pump. See Figure 6-102.
1. Remove both hex bolts that secure the gear
pump assembly together using a 1/2" socket.
2. On a clean surface, slowly separate all sec-
tions of the gear pump. See Figure 6-103.
NOTE
Pay close attention to the very small key
between the main drive shaft and small pinion.
